no doubt

morning sunshine

"Be specific. Ask God for any right thing, but as a little child, don't doubt. Doubt closes the power flow. Faith opens it. The power of faith is so tremendous that there is nothing that Almighty God cannot do for us, with us, or through us if we let Him channel His power through our minds."

Norman Vincent Peale

scattering sunshine

scratch & sniff

"The way to happiness: keep your heart free from hate, your mind from worry. Live simply, expect little, give much. Fill your life with love. Scatter sunshine. Forget self, think of others. Do as you would be done by. Try this for a week and you will be surprised."
H.C. Mattern

A True Home

“A roof to keep out the rain. Four walls to keep out the wind. Floors to keep out the cold. Yes, but home is more than that. It is the laugh of a baby, the song of a mother, the strength of a father. Warmth of loving hearts, light from happy eyes, kindness, loyalty, comradeship. Home is the first school…for the young ones where they learn what is right, what is good, and what is kind. Where they go for comfort when they are hurt or sick. Where joy is shared and sorrow eased. Where fathers and mothers are respected and loved. Where children are wanted. Where the simplest food is good enough for kings because it is earned. Where money is not so important as loving-kindness. Where even the teakettle sings from happiness. That is home.”

trying to get out of my head

awesome sculpture

" You only lose energy when life becomes dull in your mind. Your mind gets bored and therefore tired doing nothing. You don't have to be tired. Get interested in something. Get absolutely interested in something. Get absolutely enthralled in something. Throw yourself into it with abandon. Get out of yourself. Be somebody. Do something. Don't sit around moaning about things, reading the papers, and saying, 'Why don't they do something?' The man who is out doing something isn't tired. If you're not getting into good causes, no wonder you're tired. You're disintegrating. You're deteriorating. You're dying on the vine. The more you lose yourself in something bigger than yourself, the more energy you will have. You don't have time to think about yourself and get bogged down in your emotional difficulties."

Norman Vincent Peale

heart on the outside

what a difference a year makes. the little heart that a year ago beat inside of me...

valentine's day

is now a twenty pound ball of energy that i can hardly wrap enough of my love around...

smooch...happy valentine's day!

a year ago we were like little matryoshka dolls, one heart inside another. sometimes i miss that closeness, and oddly enough, sometimes i think she might too, deep in her subconscious. sometimes, when it is late and we are lying next to one another, she'll wrap her arms around my neck in the most sincere, tightest hug, and we try to capture that intimate connection once again. it is primal and unexplainable. it is love.

every day is valentine's day, as far as i am concerned. i have been given the sweetest gift...the gift of being her momma and loving and protecting that sweet heart. what an awesome job.

in the book basket

here's what in is the household book basket....my book basket, really. i am obsessive at times at the library. for example, last week, i went in for one, and came out with like five. as if i have time to read five. i just like the words near me, ok?

punxsutawney phil

it was so a punxsutawney phil day. s. and i used to call each other punxsutawney phils if we were grumpy or snarky or just in a mood. perhaps it derives from an animal awakened from his winter slumber, forced to see his shadow in order for us human beings to set our sights on the spring while still in the depths of the winter grayness. either way, i had a hard day today and was a punxsutawney phil on more than one occasion. therefore, before bed, or lack there of, i must list a few things that i did like today, just to end my day on the half-full side, rather than the half-empty side.

1. hot coffee talk with kelly this morning

2. fat charlie brown snowflakes this afternoon

3. getting some homework done and out of the way

4. a hot shower and clean jammies....works every time

5. logging off and going to bed...right...now.
